Pray for America

Hello Brethren,
Precious greetings to you in the precious name of our Lord Jesus Christ. I trust the Lord that you are all doing well; as long as you are in His hands, He will perfect all that concerns you this year in Jesus name.
This season by the grace of God, I want to implore you to join us for intercessory prayer for the United States as we pray for revival and God's mercy. The rate at which things are going in America, the nation needs a quick intervention to prevent (or reduce the effect) of impending calamities.
There have been several warning messages about unpleasant occurrence that might befall the nation, even at present, the nation is going through a major economic crisis, which has been predicted (by economic experts themselves) to get worse. This cry for intercession is not primarily to save the nation from economic crisis, terrorism or from losing her world power/status, it is a cry for revival to address the root of the problem, which is the state of the church in America.
The spiritual level of any nation is determined by the church. In other words, the nation is the way it is right now because of the position of the church. If the church (those who claim to be followers of Christ) will repent, return to the truth of the Word of God and separate herself completely from every world system that we have brought over into the church. If the church will once again turn unto the Lord and seek Him whole-heartedly, then revival will break forth that will affect the whole nation. Someone said that "God does not have the American's church attention, we are preoccupied with many things, but are doing very little with His agenda". Now that's scary! If God needs to get someone's attention at all costs, you know He will go to any length to do it even if it means hurting the individual. When we worship other things instead of God, He might need to take those things away so that He can become first in our lives. The year 2011 in itself is very significant of so many things which makes the matter more scary, but don't let us go into that as it may open another chapter, the conclusion of this matter is that we should please rise up with passion and pray for this nation.  

Prayer Points
If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. - 2 Chronicles 7:14
It is interesting to know that as common as this verse might be, it has been the key to revival in many of the world revival that we have heard of. I believe the Holy Spirit is leading us to dwell on this same verse as we pray for America.

1. Revelation 3:17 says: "Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing: and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable and poor, and blind, and naked". Wow, I am afraid to say that this is the description of the church in America (please don't be offended, remember we are addressing the church on a general level). Pride will prevent a person from seeking help. God needs to deal with our pride in order to get us to the place of help. Let us pray and ask God to pour upon the church, the spirit of humility, pray that God will remove pride from the church and cause our eyes to be opened to our true state that we might be able to seek Him.
 
2. The truth is that there is no revival without prayer. As we pray this week, let us pray that God will pour out the anointing of prayer and supplication upon His people. Pray for a special anointing of intercession upon the people of God this year (within and outside the country) that will be geared toward the revival of the church.
 
3. Let us pray and ask God for a shift in the spirit, a shift of the church's attention from the mundane/minor/irrelevant things to seeking God. Surely, when we seek Him, we will find Him. Let us ask God to pour upon the church the spirit and the grace to seek Him whole-heartedly. Pray that God will open the eyes of church to the need to seek Him, pray that God will alert His church "IN MERCY" to the need to seek His face.
 
4. For the church to experience revival, there has to be true repentance - reconciliation back to God's truth and God's way. We need to go back to where we left Him before we started the movement of running the christian race with our own wisdom or under the umbrella of political correctness or being at ease in Zion. Please pray for the spirit of genuine repentance to be poured upon the church in America, so that we might indeed turn from our wicked ways and return back to God.
 
5. When God hears from heaven and forgives our sin, that means we have obtained mercy. Please pray for us (the church in America) that God will have mercy on us, He will look down and visit the church in His mercy. He will cleanse and restore the church in His mercy for the sake of His Holy name.
 
6. Pray for a revival outbreak in the church that will affect the nation.
 
7. Finally, please pray that God in His mercy will heal this nation, He will rescue this nation in His mercy and frustrate all the plans of the evil ones especially in the year 2011.
 
8. Pray as you are led by the Holy Spirit.
