Declare the Jubilee

And ye shall hallow the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof: it shall be a jubilee unto you; and ye shall return every man unto his possession, and ye shall return every man unto his family.  - Lev. 25:10

And the Lord turned the captivity of Job when he prayed for his friends... Job 42:10a

Ask ye of the Lord rain in the time of the latter rain; so the Lord shall make bright clouds, and give them showers of rain, to every one grass in the field. - Zech. 10:1

Beloved Brethren,

I welcome you with joy and gratefulness to God, to the final month of this intercessory journey for Nigeria! Really, it has been the Lord's doing and it is marvelous in our eyes. We serve a prayer answering God, who also renews the strength of them that wait upon Him. I believe you have been reaping the benefits of intercession since you have been involved in this project with us.

Concerning the focus of our intercession, I believe and therefore I am declaring that Nigeria is entering into her jubilee. Please join me as we bring this intercession to a close and deliver this vision that we have carried and nurtured for nine months.

The first thing that the Lord laid upon my heart to do as we conclude this prayer may surprise you and of course it was not what I expected, but it lines up with the principle of the word of God, so I accept it knowing that God's ways are always higher than our ways. Apart from Nigeria, there are seventeen other African countries that gained independence in 1960, therefore, this year is also their year of Jubilee. We are first of all going to pray for these nations and decree jubilee for them as we would for Nigeria. According to Job 42:10 that I quoted earlier, when Job prayed for his friends, the Lord turned his situations around. When we pray for these nations, we are applying this principle of intercession to trigger God's blessing for Nigeria. The seventeen nations are: Benin Republic, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad Republic, Congo Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo, Cote 'd' Ivoire, Gambia, Gabon, Mali Republic, Madagascar, Mauritania, Niger Republic, Senegal, Somalia and Togo.

Secondly, to sum up everything we have been praying for since January, I feel strongly that we should ask God for rain over Nigeria. Rain signifies God's blessing and answer to prayer because it comes from above. I remember we were told while growing up that even physical rainfall after a prayer meeting is a prophetic symbol of an answer to prayer! We need the rain of God's mercy upon Nigeria to wash away everything that we have rejected on behalf of the nation during the course of this prayer and bring about a new nation designed by the glory of God to fulfill her destiny.

Prayer points

1. First of all, let us thank God for hitherto He has helped us.

2. Please pray for the seventeen nations mentioned earlier. Declare Jubilee for them according to the divine order of the word of God.

3. Let us command every chain and shackle that has kept them bound out of the will of God, to be broken. Command their prison doors to be opened and decree God's judgment upon all their spiritual taskmasters.

4. Ask for God's special mercy upon these nations. Pray that the mercy of God will manifest upon them, redeem them and release the blessing of salvation, healing and deliverance upon them.

5. Ask God to heal their lands and restore unto them their God-given possessions.

6. For Nigeria, we were commanded according to Zech 10:1 to ask for rain. Please pray that God will rend the heaven open and pour down rain to wash/cleanse Nigeria. Let the rain of His power and mercy wash away the sins, curses, covenants, entanglements and every thing that has eaten up the glory of our nation.

7. Let us pray for a heavy downpour of rain upon the church, the government and every single system we have in Nigeria. Pray that this rain of God's presence and righteousness will cleanse the systems and flush out any ungodliness and uproot any stronghold or altar that is not of God.

8. Rain brings blessing, but before physical blessings, let us pray for spiritual blessings upon Nigeria. Pray for a great outpouring of the Holy Spirit for revival and restoration in the nation. Remember that the year of jubilee is to be holy unto the Lord!

9. Rain brings new life; the farmer needs rain for his seeds to grow. Remember that we prayed during the seventh month for Nigeria to be positioned for birth (the birth of a new Nigeria), now the hour has come! Please pray for God's rain of anointing to bring forth a new Nigeria as we step into this decade of jubilee.

10. Finally, just as we prayed for ourselves during the personal jubilee prayer, let us make the following declarations for Nigeria.

  • Nigeria, it is your jubilee, therefore we declare your freedom from everything that has held you bound until now. Receive your liberty in Jesus name!

  • Nigeria, we cancel every spiritual/demonic debt on your account by the power in the blood of Jesus. You are therefore released from every burden and affliction in the name of Jesus.

  • Nigeria, we command you to return to your possession in the name of Jesus. We command you to enter into your God-given destiny in the name of Jesus.

  • Nigeria, we speak divine compensation and restoration to you in the name of Jesus. We command a divine restoration of all your blessings that proverbial locusts and cankerworms have eaten in Jesus name.

  • Finally, there is a song that says "Almighty God, our generation shall praise your name (serve you Lord, worship you, etc.). Let us dedicate Nigeria unto the Lord and decree that henceforth, our generation and coming generations shall be of those who seek, know and serve the Lord (sing the song if you know it).
